DATED : 25-04-2017 Perused the affidavit dated 12-04-2016, which has been filed in response to the directions given by this Court in the order passed on 27-01-2016. The directions are as follows :
"Therefore, this Court expects the Director General of Police, MS, Mumbai and rather requests him to take up such cases and find out the veracity of such a claim made in newspapers, and if there is substance, to immediately proceed to take action in all such cases as the taxpayers are in deep anguish. Let the Government as well as mandarins in the corridors of power understand the excruciating pain and anguish of the tax payers, who have been suffering for over two decades in the State of Maharashtra. There is a onerous responsibility on those who govern to prove to the taxpayers that eradication of corruption would not prove for them a forlorn hope."
2 aba642.15 In the affidavit filed by Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) posted to the office of Director General of Police, Maharashtra State, dated 12-04-2016, it is stated that no such cases as were anticipated by this have been reported so far and all the Police Unit Commanders have been issued directions for taking necessary action, as and when the reports are filed.
In view of what is submitted in the affidavit, this Court is satisfied that the directions issued by this Court in its order dated 27-01-2016 are complied with and now this case shall be treated as finally closed. JUDGE adgokar
