The correction in the date of birth can be made as per Government Circular dated 27.09.1994, within a period of five years from the date of joining of service. The petitioner joined service in the year 1992. On the basis of the information provided by him the date of birth was entered in his service book as 05.02.1962. Subsequently, in the year 2008 the petitioner discovered his correct date of birth as 05.02.1965 and therefore, the efforts are made to get the date of birth in his service record changed. The petitioner is due for retirement in this year.

In view of the fag end of service it is not permissible to get correction of date of birth in the service record.

The writ petition is dismissed.
