DATE : February 28, 2018 It is the grievance of the petitioner that despite order dated 25/06/2014 passed in Writ Petition No.6577/2013 the Gram Panchayat through the respondents has issued notices demanding taxes. According to the petitioner stay was granted to the recovery of arrears of taxes till 30/08/2014. In the reply filed on behalf of the respondents, it has been stated that the demand notice in question has been issued in view of Section 129 of the Maharashtra Village Panchayat Act, 1958. It has been clarified that the Gram Panchayat is not recovering the arrears of taxes for the period for which the stay has been granted.

907-CP-54-15 2/2 In view of aforesaid submission made in the affidavit on behalf of respondent No.2, it is not necessary to keep the present proceedings pending. Accordingly the Contempt Petition is disposed of.
