CORAM : SMT. VASANTI A. NAIK & A. I. S. CHEEMA, JJ.
DATE : 01.09.2015.
By this writ petition, filed by the five women petitioners, the petitioners seek a direction to the respondent No.1-State of Maharashtra to consider formulating a policy about introducing a ban on manufacture and sale of alcohol of all kinds in the Nagpur District.
On a reading of the writ petition, we do not find that the petitioners have a locus standi to file the writ petition. The petition is not registered as a public interest litigation. Also, on a specific query made to the learned counsel for the petitioners as to what is the right in the petitioners to seek the relief and whether there is any corresponding duty cast upon the State Government to formulate a policy introducing a ban on manufacture and sale of alcohol, the learned counsel for the petitioners has no reply. In the aforesaid circumstances, we dismiss the writ petition with no order as to costs.
