In compliance of our direction dated 10.06.2025, the Director of Fisheries Dr Shamila Monteiro has filed an affidavit. Mr Samant, the learned Additional Government Advocate has produced before us the communication addressed to the contractor M/s. Bagkiya Constructions Pvt. Ltd., Goa, in relation to the construction and upgradation of fishing Jetty at Malim - Phase I - balance works.

By the aforesaid communication, the contractor is asked to attend the office for execution of the formal agreement. 28th July, 2025

2. Mr Samant has instructions to make a statement that accordingly the contract is entered into with M/s. Bagkiya Constructions Pvt. Ltd., contemplating the stipulated date of completion of fishing Jetty at Malim to be 12.07.2026. He is also under instructions to state that the work has already commenced.

3. As regards the other direction, with regard to cleaning of the Jetty is concerned, the Director in the affidavit dated 02.07.2025 has made a categorical statement that the Department has undertaken the work of cleaning of Jetty on regular basis and this statement is supported by compliance/action taken report, which is part of the affidavit along with the photographs of the site.

Accepting the aforesaid compliance on record, we deem it appropriate to dispose of the Contempt Petition. At this juncture, we would also like to express our deep appreciation for Mr S.D. Padiyar, the learned Senior Advocate, who was appointed as Amicus Curiae and rendered his valuable assistance to this Court. NIVEDITA P. MEHTA, J.
