By the above petition, the Petitioner takes exception to the order dated 11th January 2022 passed by the President Children's Court of the State of Goa at Panaji,in so far as it permits the passport of the Petitioner to be renewed and reissued only for a period of one year.

The learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the Petitioner submitted that renewal of the passport only for a period of one year is of no use to the Petitioner as if he decides to travel abroad most countries require the validity of the passport to be of at least six months. He, therefore, submitted that the above order be modified to direct the Authority to renew the passport for a period of 10 years and all other conditions in the impugned order can be retained.

The learned Addl. Public Prosecutor for the State, on instructions of the Investigating Officer who is present in Court today, has fairly stated that the passport can be renewed for a period of 10 years but the Petitioner should deposit the renewed passport in the Trial Court and also if he is granted permission to travel abroad, he should re-deposit the passport within 10 days before the Trial Court from his return from travel.

Having heard learned Counsel for the parties, I find that the above Writ Petition can be conveniently disposed of by passing the following order:-

O R D E R

i.

The passport of the Petitioner shall be renewed for a period of 10 years. The renewed passport shall be deposited in the Trial Court.

ii.

The Petitioner, before travelling abroad, shall take permission from the Trial Court and shall also furnish details of the travel including the address where he would be staying as well as the flight details etc. iii.

On return from his travel abroad, the Petitioner shall redeposit the passport with the Trial Court within a period of 10 days from his return.

The impugned order stands modified to the aforesaid extent.

The above Petition is disposed of in the aforesaid terms. However, there shall be no order as to costs. 7.
