Heard Mr J. Abreu Lobo for the petitioners and Mr D. Pangam, learned Advocate General who appears along with Mr Deep Shirodkar, learned Additional Government Advocate for the State.

Te allegation in this petition was that the Chief Officer of the Sankhali Municipal Council was not implementing 17th July 2023

11-CP-4-23.DOC resolutions of the Municipal Council despite the directions issued by the Court in its Judgment and Order dated 26.07.2021 in Writ Petition No.1362/2021 (F).

Learned Advocate General states that the resolution regarding termination of the contract of three agencies engaged by Sankhali Municipal Council was duly implemented by the Chief Officer. He pointed out that at a later stage after it was realized that the work at the Council was suffering, advise was sought from the Director of Urban Development. To tide over the immediate needs, services of one agency are re-engaged as a stop gap measure.

Considering the above circumstances, we do not think that we should continue with these contempt proceedings any further. We are sure, that in future, the Chief Officer will abide by the resolutions of the Municipality.
