Heard Mr. Kashinath Shetye, the applicant in person and Mr. S.R. Rivankar, the learned Public Prosecutor for the respondents - State.

PILCW No.1 of 2015 was disposed of by order dated 19/07/2017. However, thereafter we had directed the respondents - State to file status report as to the progress of investigations and the action being taken against the persons indulging in illegal activity of gambling.

Accordingly, from time to time the respondents have

been filing reports before us. Mr. Kashinath Shetye, who appears in person points out that the investigation is not proper and the same should be handed over to CBI. We are afraid we cannot acceede to such a request in this miscellaneous application particularly when such a request is made without placing on record any material particulars and in a casual manner. 4.

The latest report filed before us indicates that between 8/10/2015 to 30/04/2019 about 2937 cases have been booked against persons indulging in illegal gambling, 3112 persons have been arrested and the total amount seized is to the tune of ₹98,72,266/-.

Accordingly, we direct the respondents - State to continue with its action as well as investigations. However, there is no point in requiring the respondents - State to keep on filing status report in this Court, indefinitely.

Accordingly, we clarify that it shall no longer be necessary for the State to file any further status report. However, if the petitioner is dissatisfied with the investigations or the prosecution of the action, it is for the petitioner to take

appropriate steps as may be available in law. 7.

Accordingly, the reports as filed are accepted and this matter is closed.
