By this petition, the petitioner seeks a writ of mandamus to the respondent No.2 to renew the petitioner's IMFL Licence.

3. According to us, we cannot straight away issue a writ of mandamus to renew the licence. However, since the grievance of the petitioner is that its application for the renewal of the licence is not being disposed of one way or the other, we enquired with the learned Advocate General as to the time limit within which such application can be disposed of.

4. The learned Advocate General states that the petitioner's application will be disposed of in accordance with law and on its own merits within a period of one week from today. This statement is accepted.

According to us, the aforesaid statement redresses the grievance of the petitioner for the present. In case, the petitioner has any difficulty with the decision of the respondents, we understand that there are statutory remedies available under the provisions of the said Act to seek the redressal in the matter of such decision.

Accordingly, by accepting the aforesaid statement we dispose of this petition. We make it clear that we have not expressed any opinion on the merits or demerits of the rival contentions.
