1. On an application filed by the Special Land Acquisition Officer, Selaulim Irrigation Project, in the First Appeal, on 13.06.2025, a stay was granted to the operation of the impugned judgment and award dated 19.05.2022, subject to the applicant depositing within eight weeks the quantum awarded to the Respondents. The application for stay was disposed of.

2. As per the said order, it was imperative for the Special Land Acquisition Officer to deposit the amount on or before 08.08.2025 but Ms Kamat, the learned Additional Government Advocate, representing him state that the amount is not deposited but the cheque dated 26th September, 2025

CA 29 of 2025 20.08.2025 in the sum of the award was presented before the Registrar on 21.08.2025 but the Registrar rightly refused the same as the time to deposit the same had already expired. In such circumstances, it is advisable that the Land Acquisition Officer file an application for condonation of delay and then directions can be given to the Registrar to accept the cheque. Upon such an application being filed, it is directed to be listed on 03.11.2025.
