Learned Additional Government Advocate submitted that the process of regular appointment to the post for which the petitioners are appointed on contract basis has already been initiated. Due to some technical difficulties, the process has been kept on hold but later on, the process would commence. The copy of the advertisement dated 13.09.2024 of the Goa Public Service Commission for filling up of these posts is placed on record and marked as 'X' for identification.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the petitioners are every time subjected to appointment on a contract basis for a fixed 25th November, 2024

WP 57 of 2016 duration which is being renewed from time to time.

3. Learned Additional Government Advocate is under instructions of the respondent no.1 to make a statement that the petitioners' contractual appointment will be continued till the time the posts are filled up on a regular basis. In the light of the statement made by the learned Additional Government Advocate, which is accepted, learned counsel for the petitioners does not press the petition any further.

4. The petitioners are at liberty to participate in the selection process. A grievance is made by the learned counsel for the petitioners that the respondents have to pay arrears to the petitioners. In the event a representation is made by the petitioners to that effect to the concerned department, the same will be looked into to enable the respondents resolve the issue of arrears.

5. The petition is disposed of. No costs.
