Heard the learned counsel for the parties.
2. The limited request made by Mr. N. Sardessai, the learned Senior Advocate for the Petitioners is for disposal of the representation made by the Petitioners within a period of 15 days. The learned Standing Counsel for the Respondents is agreeable for disposal of the representation early. However seeks 30 days time for disposal.
3. Normally we would have acceded to the request of the
WP/1107/2017 learned Standing Counsel however, in the present case it is pointed out by the learned Senior Counsel on behalf of the Petitioners that the Petitioner No.1 is a Marine Academy and desirous of starting "Catering Course in Maritime Catering" and that the career of various students would depend on the decision of the Director General of Shipping. In view of the larger interest of the students as sought to be projected by the Petitioners, we are of the opinion that Respondent No.1 should decide the representation made by the Petitioners after giving necessary hearing to the Petitioners within a period of 15 days from today. Order accordingly.
4. The parties to act on an authenticated copy of this order.
