Rule. Rule is made returnable forthwith. Heard finally by consent of parties.

The Petitioner is desirous of seeking remittance of sentence awarded to him. It that is so, it would be necessary for the Petitioner to make an appropriate application to the Competent Authority i.e. the State of Maharashtra.

It appears that the Petitioner has not made so far any application to the State of Maharashtra. The learned counsel for the Petitioner states that the Petitioner is willing to make an application to the State of Maharashtra. With this submission, Sneha Chavan page 1 of 2
20 WP 460-23=.doc we find that this petition can be disposed of by issuing necessary directions in the matter.

Liberty granted to the Petitioner to file a fresh application seeking remittance of sentence to the State of Maharashtra. 5.
If any such application is filed by the Petitioner, the same shall be decided by the State of Maharashtra in accordance with law, at the earliest and in any case within 8 weeks from the date of receipt of the application.

The petition is disposed of in the above terms. Rule is made absolute. No order as to costs.
