1.
Heard learned Advocate for the respective parties. 2.
At the outset Mr. Patil, learned Advocate for Respondents has brought to the notice of the Court the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Mohamad Kavi Mohamad Amin Vs. Fatmabai Ibrahim1 dated 22.08.1996, and submitted that suo motu power under Section 84-C of Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948 is required to be exercised within a reasonable period of time.
3.
Admittedly, perusal of the impugned order and the record of the case suggests that the action invoked under Section 84-C was after a period of almost 16 years. In that view of the matter, the Order dated 31.08.1998 passed by the Maharashtra Revenue Tribunal (MRT), (1997) 6 SCC 71
223.wp.2773.19.doc Kolhapur is in consonance with the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and the provisions of Section 84-C of the said Act. 4.
In view of the above, I find no reason to interfere with the said order. The order is sustained.
5.
Writ Petition is dismissed.
