Mr Choudhari, the learned counsel for the Petitioners accepts that the entire compensation amount has been paid to the Petitioners. However, he submits that this compensation amount was paid after considerable delay and therefore, interest was required to be paid on this amount. 2.

Ms Crasto, the learned AGP submits that in the dispute regards the reasons for the delay and whether the entire delay was on the part of the Respondents.

Considering the rival submissions, we think that interest of justice would be met if the Petitioners are permitted to file a detailed representation within two weeks of the uploading

902-WP-9170-2023.DOCX of this order, setting up the basis for the claim for interest. Mr Choudhary wishes to rely upon certain judgments in support of the Petitioners' plea. These judgments may also be enclosed along with the representation, which should be made to the competent authority within two weeks from today. 4.

The competent authority is directed to hear the Petitioners and dispose of the representation by passing and communicating a speaking order to the Petitioners. This exercise must be completed within three months of the receipt of the representation. If the competent authority requires any clarifications, the same should be immediately solved and the representation must be disposed of as directed within three months of its receipt without any further delay. 5.

If the interest is found to be payable to the Petitioners, the same must be paid within a period of one month of the determination. If any adverse order is made, the Petitioners will be at liberty to challenge the same in accordance with law.

All contentions of all parties on merits on the claim for interest are explicitly kept open.

The Petition is disposed of in the above terms without any cost order.

All concerned to act on an authenticated copy of this order.
