Heard.

The Petitioner claims that he belongs to "Darji Caste", which is included in the Other Backward Class category. The Caste Certificate secured by the Petitioner was referred to the Caste Scrutiny Committee for verification. The Scrutiny Committee, in observance of the procedure prescribed under the law, verified the caste claim of the Petitioner and negatived the same by its order dated 10th January, 2018. We have perused the order passed by the Caste Borey 1/2

spb/ 905wp9450-18.odt Scrutiny Committee. It is noticed that there was absolutely no evidence produced by the Petitioner in support of his caste claim. The only evidence produced in the form of purchase receipt of sewing machine in the year 1959 by the petitioner is not worthy to be relied upon. The reasoned order passed by the Caste Scrutiny Committee on consideration of the material placed on record and on perusal of the report of vigilance cell, does not call for interference by this court in exercise of its extraordinary jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. The Petition is devoid of substance and stands rejected accordingly.
