Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to receive the payment for the bills dated 16.03.2020 and 12.05.2020 due for the service connection bearing No. 265/010/1214 (III phase) standing in the name of the petitioner for the ground floor premises No. 278 1st Main Road, Secretariat Colony, Chennai 600 097 and desist from disconnection or dismantling to restore the same. 1 / 4

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to receive the payment for the bills raised for current consumption dated 16.03.2020 and 12.5.2020 and to desist from disconnection or dismantling the service connection.

2.When the writ petition taken up for hearing today, the learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents produced the calculation sheet wherein it is seen that the respondents are demanding for a payment of Rs.22,488/- from the petitioner under various heads. According to the respondents, if the petitioner pays this amount, the service connection will be restored. 3.The learned counsel for the petitioner expressed reservations in the amount that was claimed by the respondents.

4.In view of the above, there shall be a direction to the 4th respondent to raise the demand and send the same to the petitioner. If the petitioner is aggrieved by the same, it is left open to the petitioner to challenge it in the manner known to law. If alternatively the petitioner pays that amount, the service connection shall be restored 2 / 4

and such payment can be made by the petitioner without prejudice to his right. 5.This writ petition is disposed of in the above terms. No costs. Consequently, connected WMP is closed.
