ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to pay interest at 6% for the belated payment of terminal benefits such as Gratuity, Earned Leave amount and Provident fund to the petitioner for the period from 31.05.2024 (Date of Retirement) till the date of settlement within a time frame as fixed by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the service of the respondent Corporation on 20.08.1999 and retired on 31.05.2024. However, the retirement benefits such as Gratuity, Earned Leave amount and Provident fund were paid to him on 02.12.2025 belatedly without any interest. Therefore, the
petitioner made a representation on 10.12.2025 claiming interest for the belated payment of Gratuity, Earned Leave amount and Provident fund, which evoked no response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra from the date of retirement to till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioner, if there is no other impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
