ORDER

This Contempt Petition has been filed to punish the respondent for non compliance of the order dated 27.01.2022 passed by this Court in W.P.No.6597 of 2017, thereby directed the respondent to issue patta to the petitioner for the property comprised in S.F.No.31/1B1B, within a period of four weeks.

On perusal of the counter filed by the respondent revealed that by the letter in Ref.No.Rc.K1/1895683/2022 dated 15.09.2023, the Commissioner of Land Administration instructed that statutory orders passed by the settlement authorities cannot be interfered by the revenue authorities such as Taluk Tahsildar, Revenue Divisional Officer, District Revenue Officer. The revenue authorities have no authority to entertain any application in respect of any settlement matter under any abolition Act and they should not interfere in settled "A" registers under any pretext such as patta transfer appeal or UDR appeal. Further in any case, the statutory orders passed by the settlement authorities cannot be interfered by the revenue authorities.

Considering the above facts and circumstances, The Commissioner of Land Administration, Chennai, is directed to pass orders to the revenue authority for issuance of patta to the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.

4. With the above directions, the Contempt Petition stands disposed of.
