ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction to the 1st Respondent to fix/install the electricity meter and give electricity supply to the Petitioner's bunk shop pursuant to the installation charges collected from the petitioner,within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court.

2. Mr. L.Jaivenkatesh, learned standing counsel takes notice on behalf of the 1st Respondent.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is running a bunk shop near Saravana Store Main Gate, opposite to Lukas TVS, MTH Road, Padi, Chennai-600050 for the past several years by selling tea, coffee, Snacks and other food items. He made a representation dated 03.08.2022 to the 1st

respondent seeking electricity service connection to his shop. Since, the same was not considered, the petitioner filed a Writ Petition in W.P.No.30381 of 2022 for a direction to the respondent officials to give electricity service connection to the bunk shop, which was disposed of directing the 1st respondent to dispose of the representation on merits, pursuant to which, a sum of Rs.6,286/- was collected from the petitioner towards the installation/connection charges for effecting the electricity connection. Despite payment of necessary charges, electricity service connection was not effected to the bunk shop. Hence, the petitioner made a representation dated 24.12.2022 to the 1st respondent to provide electricity service connection to his shop. Since, the said representation did not yield any response, the petitioner has come up with this Writ Petition.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that despite the direction issued by this Court in W.P.No.30381 of 2022 for consideration of the petitioner's representation seeking Electricity Service connection and also upon payment of necessary charges towards the installation, till date no steps have been taken by the respondents to effect electricity service connection.

5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the 1st respondent.

In view of the limited relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.12.2022 seeking to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's bunk shop and pass appropriate orders on the same in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner as well as the aggrieved persons if any.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
