JUDGMENT
This Criminal Appeal is filed challenging the judgement in Special SC.NO.30 of 2022 dated 27.12.2022 on the file of the Special Court for Exclusive trial of cases under POCSO Act, Cuddalore.
2.The learned counsel for the appellant submits that the petitioner was found guilty and convicted by the learned Special Court for Exclusive Trial of Cases under the POCSO Act, Cuddalore, in Spl.S.C.No. 30 of 2022, vide judgment dated 27.12.2022, for offences under Sections 294(b) and 506(i) of the IPC and Sections 11(1) and 12 of the POCSO Act, 2012. 3.He further submits that the petitioner was confined in prison as a remand prisoner for 171 days, from 24.01.2022 to 13.05.2022. Subsequently, having undergone the full sentence imposed by the Trial Court, the petitioner has been released from prison. Consequently, the Appeal has become infructuous, and hence the learned counsel submits that the same be closed. 4.On the previous date of hearing, this Court directed the learned Government Advocate (Crl.
Side) to obtain a report and instructions from the prison authorities. Pursuant to the said direction, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), based on instructions from the Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison, Cuddalore, submitted that the petitioner has completed his sentence and has been released from prison. A copy of the letter from the Superintendent of Prisons, dated 05.03.
