This writ petition (criminal) has been filed seeking to direct the respondents to grant permission and police protection to conduct Jallikattu during the Pongal at Ettivaadi Village, Polur Taluk, Tiruvannamalai District, which is scheduled on 11.01.2026 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 12.12.2025.
2. Mr.S.Santhosh, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), takes notice on behalf of the respondents. In view of the consent expressed by the learned counsel on either side, this writ petition (criminal) is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondents submitted that the representation of the petitioner dated 12.12.2025 has been rejected by the respondents police on 03.01.2026. Hence, no useful purpose would be served by keeping this matter pending any further.
4. In view of the above submission made by the learned Government Advocate (criminal side), this writ petition (criminal) stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
