ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to pay interest at 10% p.a. for the belated payment of terminal benefits such as
Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave salary and Surrendered leave salary to the petitioners.
2. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
3. It is the case of the petitioners that they joined the service of the respondent Corporation and retired from service during the years 2023-2024. However, the retirement benefits have been settled belatedly to the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners sent a representation on 10.09.2025, 24.11.2025, 10.12.2025, 16.12.2025 and 17.12.2025 respectively which evoked no response so far and now filed the present petition claiming 10% interest for the belated payment of retirement benefits such as Gratuity, Leave salary, Provident fund and Surrendered leave salary.

In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits such as Gratuity, Leave salary, Provident fund and Surrendered Leave salary, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of retirement to till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioners, if there is no other impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
6. WMP.No.1205 of 2026 filed by the petitioners to permit them to file a single Writ Petition stands allowed.
