Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, calling for the records of the second respondent impugned suspension order in No.2688/A1/2023 dated 01.04.2023 and quash the same consequently directing the respondents to reinstate the petitioner in any non-sensitive post considering the representation of the petitioner dated 21.07.2023 seeking to revoke the suspension and to pass orders thereon, on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame. ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed challenging the order of suspension dated 01.04.2023 passed by the second respondent.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

The petitioner, while he was working as the Assistant (Sub-Registrar In-charge) in the office of the Sub-Registrar, Pallavaram, Chennai, was arrested and remanded to judicial custody pursuant to the registration of FIR in Crime No.2 of 2023 on the file of the Inspector of Police, Chennai City-IV, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Chennai, alleging that he demanded a sum of Rs.2,000/- for release of a Settlement Deed vide document No.3163 of 2023 based on the complaint lodged by one Saravanan, who is a settlor in the Settlement Deed. Immediately, after his arrest, he was deemed to be suspended with effect from 29.03.2023 under Rule 17(e) Sub-section (2) of Tamil Nadu Government Service (Civil and Appeal) Rules, 1955. Subsequently, he was released on bail.
4. Further, the case of the petitioner is that the complainant has submitted the Settlement Deed executed by him in favour of his mother for registration on payment of the requisite charges on
28.03.2023. Since the veracity of the patta was confirmed by the Special Tashildar, Sholinganallur, the petitioner registered the Settlement Deed vide document No.3163 of 2023 dated 28.03.2023. He also submitted a representation to revoke the suspension order dated 01.04.2023. The petitioner was not served with any charge memo so far.
5. Considering the above, the second respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner to revoke his order of suspension and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
