Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. to direct to expedite the trial in SC No.155 of 2014 on the file of the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Thiruvallore at Ponneri within the time as stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Thiruvallore at Ponneri to expedite the trial in SC No.155 of 2014 pending on his file, within the time as stipulated by this Court.

2. The case of the petitioner is that he was arrayed as A2 in a case in Crime No.1238 of 2012 on the file of the respondent police. After due investigation, he was charge sheeted for the offences punishable under Sections 341, 147, 148, 302 r/w 149 IPC and the charge sheet was taken on file as PRC No.29/2012 by the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Ponneri. Subsequently, the case was committed to the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Thiruvallore at Ponneri and renumbered as SC No.155 of 2014. Though, the case was taken on file in the year 2014, till date, trial has not commenced. Hence, this petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who took notice for the respondent.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Thiruvallore at Ponneri to expedite the trial in SC No.155/2014 pending on his file and dispose of the same, on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. This Criminal Original Petition is ordered accordingly.
