This application is filed seeking an extension of time by six months for conclusion of the arbitral proceedings by pronouncing an award in respect thereof.

2.The applicant states that the arbitral proceedings were proceeded with and that even final arguments were advanced by both parties. However, in the meantime, the time limit specified under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, expired. Consequently, the parties filed a Joint Memo dated 22.01.2020 before the arbitral tribunal consenting to an extension of time for pronouncing the award. Although the parties consented, it is stated that the present application is necessary because parties are permitted to consent only for an extension of six months.

3.Since a Joint Memo was filed by both the applicant and the respondents, notice to the respondents is dispensed with. 4.Keeping in mind the current stage of proceedings, i.e. oral arguments have been concluded, sufficient cause is made out to extend the time for conclusion of proceedings by pronouncing an award in respect thereof. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis 1/2
