The above Writ Petitions have been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to disburse interest for the belated payment of terminal benefits and other unsettled benefits etc., as stated in the prayer respectively to the petitioners herein.
2. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petitions are taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
3. It is the case of the petitioners that they joined the service of the respondent Corporation and retired from service in the year 2024. However, the retirement benefits have been settled belatedly to the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners sent a representation on 11.12.2025, 09.12.2025 and 10.12.2025 respectively which evoked no response so far and now filed the present petitions claiming interest for the belated payment of retirement benefits such as Provident Fund, Gratuity, Commutation and Earned leave salary amounts and other unsettled benefits of difference amount of Pension arrears, Gratuity and Earned leave salary and 10 days salary with effect from 1.06.2024, 01.08.2024 and 01.07.2024 respectively.

In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits such as Provident Fund, Gratuity, Commutation and Earned leave salary amounts and other unsettled benefits of difference amount of Pension arrears, Gratuity and Earned leave salary and 10 days salary with effect from 1.06.2024, 01.08.2024 and 01.07.2024 respectively, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of retirement to till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioners, if there is no other impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.
5. Accordingly, these Writ Petitions are disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
