Prayer:Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of mandamus to direct the second respondent herein to rectify the mistake in the Death Certificate of his father viz., Ranganathan in the column of father of deceased as Govindan instead of Saravanan based on the application of the petitioner dated 10.12.2019 and issue fresh Death Certificate.

This writ petition is filed for a mandamus to direct the second respondent herein to rectify the mistake in the Death Certificate of his father viz., Ranganathan in the column of father of deceased as Govindan instead of Saravanan based on the application of the petitioner dated 10.12.2019 and issue fresh Death Certificate.

2.Heard both sides.

3. It is stated that one Ranganathan claims to be the father of the petitioner died on 05.10.1993 and a Death Certificate was issued by the Chennai Corporation on 16.10.2019, by showing the 1/4 https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

father of the deceased as Saravanan instead of Govindan. According to the petitioner, the said mistake has to be corrected in the Death Certificate and therefore, he made an application to the second respondent on 10.12.2019, which has not been considered so far.

4. Learned counsel for the respondent Corporation submitted that except filing the application, the petitioner has not produced relevant supporting documents to consider the claim of the petitioner.

5. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner would submit necessary documents before the concerned authority for making necessary correction.

In view of the above stated facts and circumstances, this writ petition is disposed of, by directing the petitioner to produce necessary documents in support of his claim for correction of the Death Certificate, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order before the second respondent. On receipt of such documents in support of the petitioner's claim, the second respondent shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of four weeks thereafter.
