This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the learned learned Sessions Judge, Mahila Court, Chengalpattu, to complete the trial in Spl.S.C.No.57 of 2022 in an expeditious manner. 1/4

The submissions of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner are as follows:- 2.1. The petitioner/PW1, who is the father of the victim in Crime No.3 of 2022, is that the crime is of the year 2022 and after completion of investigation, the final report was filed and the same has been taken cognizance of on the file of the Mahila Court, Chengalpattu, in Spl.S.C.No.57 of 2022. However, thereafter, no progress has been made in the trial.

2.2. The accused has been deliberately delaying the progress of the trial in order to win over the witnesses. Therefore, he sought early disposal of the trial in a time bound manner, as mandated under Section 35(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. 3.

Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police, on instructions, submitted that there are 13 witnesses in this case and that PW1 has already been examined. He further submitted that the case now stands posted for examination of LW2 on 23.01.2026. 4.

Having heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and upon perusal of the materials available on record and taking note of the facts 2/4

and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the learned Sessions Judge, Mahila Court, Chengalpattu, to complete the trial in Spl.S.C.No.57 of 2022 as expeditiously as possible, in a time-bound manner, as mandated under Section 35(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. 5.

With the above directions, this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
