..Respondent Habeas Corpus Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus, directing the respondent to produce the Corpus of minor Arjunraj, son of Amirthalingam, aged about 15 years and set him at liberty.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by P.N.PRAKASH, J.) This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to produce the Corpus of minor Arjunraj, Son of Amirthalingam, aged about 15 years and set him at liberty.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that her son Arjunraj, aged about 15 years went missing on 23.10.2014, in connection with which a case in Thermal Police Station, Neyveli Cr.No.170 of 2014 for "Boy missing" has been registered on 26.10.2014 and investigation is pending. The Inspector of Police, Thermal Police Station, Neyveli has filed a detailed Status Report, wherein he has stated as follows:

"9. I submit that the Superintendent of Police, Cuddalore District has been formed a special team to trace the missing Children, Cuddalore District and consisting Tmt.Deepa, Inspector of Police, Tmt.Senthamarai, Sub Inspector of Police, Tmt.Manjamadha, Police 1525 and Tmt.Malathy, Police 217 and they have visited to Orphanage Homes, Children Observation Homes, Bus Stands, Railway Station, Temple and other places. Hence, the respondent police gave details of the Detenu and his photo to the said special team in order to trace the detenu.

10. I submit that I have been formed four special teams and consisting Tr.Gopalakrishshnan, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Tr.Charles, Head Constable 1784, Tr.Elangovan, Head Constable 2054, Tr.Selvakumar, Head Constable 1568, Tr.Arivalagan, Head Constable 915, Tr.Thirugnanam, Head Constable 1817 and they have visited the following places.

(i) From 29.10.2014 to 01.11.2014 - Vadalur, Therkirupu, Meriruppu, Periyakurichi and surrounding areas - Cuddalore District.

(ii) From 10.11.2014 to 23.11.2014 - Chidambaram Natarajar Temple, Chidambaram & Virudhachalam Railway Station, Chidambaram and Virudhachalam Bus Stand and surrounding areas - Cuddalore District.

(iii) From 17.12.2014 to 27.12.2014 - Aladi, Manakoolai, Gopulapuram, Veeratti Kuppam, Gopulakuppam, Kappankulam and surrounding areas - Cuddalore District.

(iv) From 05.01.2015 to 13.01.2015 - Panrutti, Kadampurliyur, Nellikuppam, Pattampakkam, Kondur and surrounding areas - Cuddalore District.

(v) From 20.01.2015 to 22.02.2015 - Thitakudi, Pennadam, Kammapuram, Kattumannarkoil, Veppoor, Government Children Observation Home, Cuddalore - Cuddalore District, Senthudurai and surrounding areas, Ariyalur District.

(vi) From 24.02.20165 to 15.03.2015 - Kallakuirichi, Thyadurugam, Ulundurpet, Madappattu, Koliyanur, Vellavanur, Thirukovilur, Government Children Observation Home, Villupuram and surrounding areas - Villupuram District and Chinnasalem and surrounding areas of Salem City and District. (vii) 16.03.2015 to 28.03.2015 - Spinning Mills, Coimbatore District & City, Banian Companies, Tiruppur City & District and surrounding areas and enquired about the detenu/missing boy - Arunraj and circulated the pamphlets along with detenu/missing Arunraj's photo and the pamphlets pasted at public gathering places, namely (1) Railway stations (2) Bus Stands, (3) Markets, (4) Orphanage Homes, (5) Government Children Homes, (6) Theatres, (7) Hospitals, (8) Auto stands, (9) Temples, (10) Companies and (11) Spinning Mills. But no clue was obtained."

It is seen that the detenu is not under the illegal custody of any person and hence, we are of the view that the investigation is proceeding in the right lines and we further direct the police to diligently pursue the investigation and keep the petitioner informed of developments in this regard. With the above direction, this Habeas Corpus Petition is closed.
