No.768/2008/Minerals-2 dated 08.09.2008 thereby initiating criminal proceedings against respondents 12 to 41 herein and their subordinates and staff or any other persons responsible for illegal sand quarrying in Thumal, Mangammal and Banavedu lakes measuring nearly 300 acres situate in Survey Nos.

289 and 289/1, Kannapalayam Village, Sriperumpudur Taluk, Thiruvallur District and also ensuring that illegal sand quarrying is not carried out in the said lakes in future. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents 7 and 8 to implement in letter and spirit the directions of the 3rd respondent in Na.Ka. No.768/2008/Minerals-2 dated 08.09.2008 and thereby to initiate criminal proceedings against the respondents 12 to 41 herein and their subordinates and staff for quarrying the sand illegally.

2. When the writ petition was taken up for hearing, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the State, would submit that now there is no sand quarrying activities by the respondents 12 to 41.

3. Recording the statement of the learned Additional Government Pleader, this writ petition is closed. However, there is no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 29.11.2022 Index : Yes / No Speaking/non speaking order Asr Page No:5/6
