Respondents Petition under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 praying to punish the respondents for wilful disobedience of the order of this Court dated 5.7.2018 made in W.P.No.16655 of 2018.

ORDER

When the matter was taken up, Mr.K.Ravikumar, learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents 2 & 3 fairly submitted that the respondents 2 & 3 are prepared to provide police protection for conducting the elections in a free and fair manner, as ordered by this Court on 5.7.2018 in W.P.No.16655 of 2018, if the first respondent makes a request in this regard.

2. The learned counsel for the first respondent-Wakf Board also stated that the first respondent is prepared to conduct the elections within four weeks and they will also make a fresh application to the Inspector of Police, C-3 Police Station, Coimbatore for providing police protection, if necessary, for the conduct of free and fair elections.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner also agreed to the said course.

4. Since the first respondent-Wakf Board has made their mind clear before this Court to hold the elections, they are directed to conduct the elections in a free and fair manner within a period of six weeks from today and the jurisdictional police shall provide sufficient police protection, on receipt of any such request from the first respondent, for holding a free and fair election. With this
