(In both appeals) For Appellant : No appearance For Respondents: Ms.A.Bakkiya Lakshmi, Legal Aid Counsel C O M M O N J U D G M E N T These Criminal Appeals have been filed by the appellants/ complainants, against the order of the acquittal in C.C.Nos.2548 and 2549 of 1998 by the XV Metropolitan Magistrate, George Town, Chennai, dated 08.11.2002. 2.Though these matters have been posted on 07.02.2018, 13.02.2018 and 14.02.2018, there were no representation for the appellant. Even after service of the notice through respondents, there was no representation. On 02.07.2018, this Court appointed one Ms.A.Bakkiya Lakshmi as Legal Aid counsel and directed these matters to be posted through Video Conference on 12.07.2018.

3. When the matters were taken up for hearing today (12.07.2018), there were no representation for the appellant, whereas the Legal Aid Counsel appeared and argued. Therefore, both the appeals are dismissed.

4.This Court would place on record the commendable service rendered by Ms.A.Bakkiya Lakshmi, who has argued the appeals as legal aid counsel on behalf of the respondent. The learned counsel is entitled to get remuneration of Rs.3,000/- in each appeal (Totally a sum of Rs.6,000/-) from the Madras High Court Legal Services Committee, Madras.
