This Criminal Original Petition has been filed for a direction to the second respondent to provide proper food to the detenue,

V.M.Elangovan, S/o.V.Murugan, aged about 44 years, Life Convict No.5472, facing IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and detained at Central Prison-1, Puzhal, Chennai.

2.The learned counsel for the petitioner specifically submitted that it is nothing but a claim for proper food for a person who is suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. On the other hand, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the petitioner is supplied with proper food as provide under the Jail Manual, which is stoutly refuted by the learned counsel for the petitioner. 3.To give a quietus to the issue, the respondents are directed to provide proper food to the petitioner as prescribed by the Medical Attendant of the Prison, to the petitioner, who is under treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The food as per the prescription by the Medical Attendant shall be given within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
