O R D E R

This Writ petition has been filed challenging the proceedings of the respondent dated 30.12.2023 rejecting the permission sought for by the petitioner to conduct the music festival during Pongal on 18.01.2024. 2.

Heard Mr. R. Thamarai Selvan, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr.A.Damodaran, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for respondent.

The respondent has rejected the permission only on the ground that there is already a prohibition order under section 30(2) of City Police Act.

The petitioner is seeking for permission only to conduct music programme on 18.01.2024. This is on the occasion of Pongal and this festival is sought to be conducted in a temple. Therefore, there should be no objection to permit the music festival to be conducted on 18.01.2024. 2/5

5. It is left open to the respondent police to impose necessary conditions to ensure that the programme is conducted in a smooth manner without giving rise to any law and order problem. The petitioner shall also pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) to the respondent police, since the respondent police is going to give police protection during the programme.

6. This Writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
