ORDER
The matter is taken up through Web hearing.
Mr.M.Elumalai, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the first respondent. Mr.R.Sivakumar, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the 2nd and 3rd respondents. By consent of both parties, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. The grievance of the petitioner is that he has taken lease for collecting toll in Thudiyalur Weekly Market, Coimbatore Corporation for the period from 01.04.2018 to 31.03.2021 as per G.O.Ms.No.181, Municipal Administration and Water Supply department, dated 19.09.2008. Due to the present Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Government has announced lock down and therefore, the said weekly Market, Coimbatore, was not opened for eight months. The period of lease will come to end on 31.03.2021. Therefore, the petitioner made a request to the respondents for extension of time for collecting toll for a further period of eight months. The petitioner has also made a 2/4
representation dated 27.01.2020 to the respondents in this regard but the same has not been considered so far. Hence, the present writ petition is filed seeking the above said relief.
3. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court, without expressing any view on the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 21.07.2020 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law on or before 25.03.2021.
