Respondents Prayer: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 9 to 15 to remove the respondents 18 to 23 and other encroachers who are in occupation of Government land in T.S.No.1, Block 16, Old Ward - G, Salem Town by giving effect to the 9th respondent's proceeding in Na.Ka.No.34332/2020/K4 dated 24.12.2020 and also by considering petitioner representation dated 23.12.2020.

ORDER
(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This is another matter of public interest litigation pertaining to encroachment. The petitioner claims that some Government land has been encroached, though the petitioner may not have any direct interest therein.
2. The petitioner is permitted to carry a representation to the appropriate local authorities who may address the issue. If such local authorities find any Government land being encroached by any person, appropriate steps in accordance with law must be expeditiously taken. If the petitioner feels aggrieved that the representation has not been appropriately dealt with, the petitioner may pursue the remedies otherwise than by way of a public interest litigation upon establishing his locus standi. W.P.No.1436 of 2021 is disposed of, without any order as to costs.
