ORDER

This petition has been filed seeking a direction to directing the respondents 2 and 3 herein to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 05.01.2026 regarding the candidature of the petitioner, Vide Roll No.1151096 for selection to the unfilled post of Sub-Inspector of Police under Schedule caste Category, Joint Recruitment 2023 caused by disqualification or provisionally selected candidate(s) and pass orders in accordance with law.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that he is working as a Grade II Police Constable posted in Adyar Traffic Police station and was appointed in the year 2017 in the year 2017. The in service candidates of Police Department can avail Department quota of 20% of the vacancies notified by the 3rd respondent. On 05.05.2023, the second respondent published notification inviting online application for the post of Sub Inspector of Police. For the said recruitment, the candidates have to clear two written examination. In 2024, the petitioner appeared the examinations and achieved 79.25 cut off marks. Due to age, he was not provisionally selected and was next to the last candidate in the SC category. On 30.12.2025, the respondents issued a final selected candidates list wherein it was revealed that one M.Sathish Kumar was disqualified on medical grounds leaving one unfilled post in SC category to which the petitioner is entitled. Therefore, on 05.01.2026, the petitioner submitted a representation

requesting the respondents 2 and 3 to select the petitioner to the unfilled post and the same is not considered. Hence, the present writ petition.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may direct the respondents to consider and pass orders on the petitioners representation within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.

4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent submitted that the representation will be considered and orders will be passed within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.

5. Heard the learned counsel for both side and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and in view of the limited request sought for by the petitioner, this court directs the respondents 2 & 3 respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 05.01.2026 in respect of unfilled post of Sub-Inspector of Police under Scheduled Caste Category, if otherwise eligible, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
