This writ petition has been filed to direct the second respondent to rectify the mistake in the petitioner PG NEET application in Appl. ID : PG24246192 as General Category instead of OBC.

2. Heard Mr.M.R.Radhakrishnan, learned counsel for the petitioner, Ms.Shubharanjani Ananth, Standing counsel for the first respondent and Mr.K.Srinivasamurthy, Senior Panel Counsel for the second respondent.

3. By consent of both parties, writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

4. The petitioner belongs to OBC category. He has applied for NEET examination for Post-Graduation course. While filling up the application form, he had erroneously mentioned his communal status as General Category. The petitioner had sent e-mail to the second respondent to rectify the mistake, but the second respondent has not taken any steps to rectify the same. Hence, the petitioner had approached this Court by way of a writ petition. 2/4

5. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is having a certificate to disclose that he belongs to B.C category.

6. The learned Standing counsel appearing for the first respondent submitted that change of category cannot be permitted at this stage.

7. The learned Senior Panel Counsel appearing for the second respondent submitted that the petitioner has applied for the examination in the general quota. The entry will not have any significance. However, challenge of category in National Level is not feasible and such correction is not possible at this stage.

8. It is relevant to note that on-line application was made only by the petitioner. Now, as a matter of right, this writ petition cannot be maintained. In such a view of the matter, this Court does not find any merits in this matter.

9. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. 10/1/2025 Index : Yes / No 3/4
