Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India praying to issue Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to considered petitioner's name in the 'C' list of Head Constable (AR) fit for promotion as Sub-Inspector of Police (AR) for the year 2000 and give all consequent and attendant benefits including further promotion in consonance with the said entry.

ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed for direction directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's name in the 'C' List of Constable (AR) to the promotion of Sub-Inspector of Police (AR).
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.
3. The petitioner had entered into service as Police Constable in the City Armed Reserve on 01.08.1984. Subsequently, he was promoted to the post of Head Constable on 11.05.1987. The next promotion was Sub-Inspector of Police. Accordingly, he was temporarily appointed to the post of Sub Inspector of Police by an order dated 13.04.2005.

A perusal of the counter filed by the respondents reveals that the Range Promotion Board was conducted for the year 1991-1992 in Chennai City Police and eligible and qualified Head Constables (AR) were included in the 'C' List. Based on the Court directions, a revised 'C' List of Head Constables fit for promotion as Sub Inspector of Police for the year 1991-92 consisting of 50 names of Head Constables have been published and they were given promotion. In fact, the name of the 2/4
petitioner was also included and attended the Range Promotion Board for the year 1991-92, those who have succeeded included in the 'C' List for the promotion in the post of Sub Inspector of Police. However, the petitioner is concerned, though the petitioner was promoted, he was not qualified in the promotion test.
5. In view of the above, the prayer sought for in this writ petition cannot be considered and the writ petition is devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. 29.09.2023 Index:Yes/No Internet:Yes/No Lpp To
