This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 31.10.2020 and to issue necessary licence for running
street vendor activities on either side of road from ICF upto Ayanavaram and from Perambur Loco Works upto Ayanavaram. 2.
According to the petitioner, they are a registered association under the Societies Registration Act vide No.19/20 and its consists of members who are doing small-scale vending of fruits, vegetables and other naturally grown products on the road side. The Respondents are issuing street vendor licence to such vendors by stipulating certain conditions for those who vend fruits, vegetables, etc., and hence, the association made a representation dated 31.10.2020 sent by Registered Post to grant such licence to the members of the petitioner Association. However, so far, no reply is received from the respondents nor licence is issued to their members. Hence, the petitioners have filed these writ petitions for the aforesaid relief.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the respondents fairly submitted that the respondents would consider the claim of the petitioners and pass appropriate orders, on merits, within a reasonable time to be fixed by this Court.
4. Heard both sides and perused the materials placed before this Court.
5. In the light of the above submissions made by the learned counsel for the respondents, this Court directs respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 31.10.2020 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Accordingly, this writ petition stand disposed of. No costs.
