ORDER
The Writ Petition is filed for issuing a direction to the respondents to provide police protection to the petitioner and her family including her husband Mr.K.S.Ravi and two children at petitioner cost based on her representation dated 08.02.2016. 2.Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that even though the petitioner has given a representation dated 08.02.2016 to the respondents, neither they have taken steps to
provide police protection nor they dispose the said representation. Hence, the petitioner has come forward with this petition for the above stated relief.
3.Heard the learned Additional Government Pleader. 4.A perusal of the typed set of papers reveals that on the basis of the complaint given by one Sundar, a case in Crime No.1056 of 2015 has been registered for the offences under Sections 147, 148, 341, 294(b), 397, 506(ii) IPC and Section 7 read with Section 25(1)(A) of Arms Act, 1959. In the voluntary confession statement, it is stated that the accused persons are planning to commit murder of two VIPs in Guduvancherry area. On enquiry, they came to know that the petitioner's husband is one among them. In that regard, petitioner's husband had already lodged a complaint before the second respondent on 22.01.2016 and now the said persons were also released on bail. Hence, she prays for police protection.
5.Considering the submissions made on both sides, I am of the view that it is a fit case for giving a direction to the police to provide adequate police protection. Accordingly, the second respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 08.02.2016 and pass appropriate order on merits and in accordance with law in terms of G.O.Ms.No.919 Home Department dated 11.08.2008, within a week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6.With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
