O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 16.12.2022 wherein the petitioner has sought for change of date of birth from 01.02.1963 to 15.07.1963.

2. Heard Mr. Balasubramaniam for M/s.P.Singaram, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and Mr.E.Sundaram, learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents.

3. The petitioner is working as a Secondary Grade teacher in the 4th respondent School. He was appointed in the year 2009. According to the petitioner, during the month of June 2022 he came to know that his actual date of birth is 15.07.1963 however, in the service of records his date of birth has 2/4

been given as 01.02.1963. The petitioner states that his parents were illiterate and a wrong date of birth was given and it continued in the service register also.

4. In the considered view of this Court, the application for change of date of birth should be made within five years from the date of entering into service. The petitioner is aged about 59 years and he is almost in the verge of retirement and at this point of time, the petitioner does not have the right to seek for alteration of date of birth at the fag end of his service and no useful purpose would be served in considering the representation made by the petitioner.

5. In view of the above, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. No Costs.
