... Applicant Application praying that this Hon'ble Court be pleased to grant permission to establish an Arts and Science College in the name and style of "P.T.Lee Chengalvaraya Naicker College" at P.T.Lee Chengalvaraya Naicker College

Campus, Vepery, Chennai as per the resolution No.82 (ii) dated 18.12.2017 passed by the P.T.Lee Chengalvaraya Naicker Trust Board.

This Application coming on this day before this Court for hearing the Court made the following order:- This application has bee taken out by the Board of Trustees of "P.T.Lee Chengalvaraya Naicker Trust" seeking permission to establish the Arts and Science College in General Collins Road, Vepery, Chennai, in the land belonging to the Trust. The Trust is covered by a scheme decree framed by this Court in C.S.No.242 of 1986.

Clause 25 of the scheme decree reads as follows: "No new project, scheme or pro gramme or course of study shall be taken up, adopted launched or carried out by the board without the permission of the court".

2. In view of the said Clause, the Trustees have before this Court seeking to start a new Arts and Science College.

3. The resolution to the said effect was passed in the meeting of the Trustees held on 18.12.2017. It is seen that the Trust is in possession of 6 acres of land in Vepery, in which, 1.8 acres have been currently used for the purpose of of Polytechnic College, which is run by the Trust. The remaining 4.5 acres of land is lying unused. As per the requirements of the UGC, the above area is sufficient for starting an Arts and

Science College in Metropolitan City. Hence, the permission sought for is granted.
