CORAM
THE HONOURABLE MR.JUSTICE D.BHARATHA CHAKRAVARTHY & W.M.P.No.1788 of 2026 T.Sasisubavenkatesh (Roll No.HD22140) S/o.Thiruppathi, B.C.A. , L.L.B (Hons)-IV Year, School of Excellence in Law (SOEL), The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Residing at No.3/286 Arunthathiyar Street, Maranthai, Alangulam Taluk, Tenkasi - 627 851. ... ... The writ petition is filed with a prayer directing the respondents to consider the representation of petitioner dated 02.01.2026 and permit the petitioner to take his 7th semester LLB examination, conducted by the respondents 1 and 2, along with the 8th semester examination scheduled to commence in April-May 2026.
2. Upon hearing the Learned Counsel for the petitioner and perusing the material records of the case, it can be seen that for the 7th semester, there was shortage of attendance and therefore, the petitioner was not permitted to write the examination. The petitioner is also not attending the 8th semester. The 8th semester classes commenced on 04.12.2025 and already a major portion of the 8th semester classes are also over, as we are now in the month of February 2026. Page Nos.2/5
3. It is true that this Court granted an equitable relief, following the Hon'ble Delhi High Court judgment in re: Suicide Committed by Sushant Rohilla, Law Student of I.P. University, to some students who were similarly situated as that of the petitioner. However, it can be seen that those students approached the Court immediately after they were prohibited from writing the examination or sooner thereafter. This student had approached only in January 2026. Therefore, in view of the sheer delay, this Court cannot direct to give him compensatory classes etc., and therefore, I am unable to interfere in the present matter.
4. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. The student shall continue the course next year as originally directed. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
