Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of mandamus directing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents to declare public holidays viz., New Year, Pongal, Thiruvalluvar Day, Uzhavar Thirunal, Thai Poosam, Republic Day, Telugu New Year, Tamil New Year/Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Birthday/Mahaveer Jayanthi, Good Friday, May Day, Ramzan, Bakrid, Muharram, Independence Day, Krishna Jayanthi, Vinayakar Chathurthi, Gandhi Jayanthi, Ayutha Pooja, Vijaya Dasami, Miladun-Nabi, Deepavali and Christmas as declared by the first respondent as Dry Days for all the Liquor Retail Vending Shops and Bars of the 4th respondent throughout Tamil Nadu and consequently, forbear the 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents to open all the Liquor Retail Vending Shops and Bars of the fourth respondent through out Tamil Nadu during Public Holidays/Dry days every year.
