M/s Suchit Anant Palande COMMON JUDGMENT (Judgment of the Court was delivered by Dr.G.Jayachandran J.) The appellant and the respondent are wife and husband, whose marriage was solemnized on 10.11.2019 as per Hindu Rites and Customs. Due to misunderstandings, the parties got separated. The husband filed a petition for divorce on the ground of cruelty, while the wife filed a petition for restitution of conjugal rights. By a common order, the VI Additional Family Court, Chennai,
allowed the husband's petition for divorce and dismissed the wife's petition for restitution of conjugal rights.

Being aggrieved, the wife preferred Civil Miscellaneous Appeal Nos. 117 and 118 of 2025. During the pendency of these appeals, the parties were referred to mediation to explore an amicable settlement. Accordingly, they went before mediator and have settled the dispute as per the terms of agreement dated 29.01.2026.

Under the terms of the settlement, the jewelry held by each party has been returned to the respective owners. Furthermore, the husband has paid a sum of Rs. 9,00,000/- (Rupees Nine Lakhs only) to the wife towards permanent alimony. Both parties have agreed to the dissolution of marriage by mutual consent, withdrawing all allegations made against each other in their respective petitions. In view of the settlement arrived at, the marriage solemnized between the parties on 10.11.2019 stands dissolved by a decree of divorce by mutual consent. The terms of the settlement agreement shall form part of the decree. 4.
As a result, these Civil Miscellaneous Appeals are disposed of. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
