ORDER

The prayer sought for herein is for a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 28.12.2020 for grant Ayan Patta to the petitioner.

2. The petitioner claims that conditional patta has already been issued in the year 1951 in the name of the petitioner's grandfather, since then, the property in question had been in possession and enjoyment of the petitioner's grandfather, subsequently by the father of the petitioner and thereafter the petitioner.

3. In the year 1992, similar conditional patta has been issued in the name of the petitioner as well as the brothers of the petitioner, who are the legal heirs of the petitioner's father and from then onwards, the property has been in possession and enjoyment of the petitioner. Therefore, in order to get regular patta, the petitioner has moved an application to the respondent on 28.12.2020. However, the said application submitted by the petitioner have not so far been considered by the Revenue Tahsildar as well as the Revenue Divisional Officer, hence the petitioner has moved the present writ petition with the 2/5

aforesaid prayer.

4. Heard Mr.R.Ganesh Kumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mrs.Akila Rajendran, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

Learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that the said application submitted by the petitioner, if at all still is pending and not been disposed of by the Revenue Divisional Officer, the same would be considered and decided on merits and in accordance with law within a time frame that may be stipulated by this Court.

6. Having regard to the said stand taken by the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents, this Court is inclined to dispose of this writ petition with the following order: That there shall be a direction to the respondents to consider the application/representation submitted by the petitioner dated 28.12.2020 and pass necessary orders 3/5

thereon on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight(8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
