consider the petitioner representation dated 06.01.2026 by conducting the document verifications to the petitioners for the post of Nurse (VHN) and thereafter the petitioners shall be consider for the post of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM)/Village Health Nurse (VHN) based on the petitioners eligible criteria.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of writ of mandamus, directing the Respondents 2 to 4 to consider the petitioner representation dated 06.01.2026 by conducting the document verifications to the petitioners for the post of Nurse (VHN) and thereafter the petitioners shall be consider for the post of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM)/Village Health Nurse (VHN) based on the petitioners eligible criteria.

2. By the consent of the learned counsel appearing on either side, this Writ Petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners are completed the course of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife __________Page 3 of 7

(ANM)/Village Health Nurse (VHN) and duly registered at the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council at the Board of Nursing Education, Nurse League of the CMAI (South India Branch) is admitted to Part:E of Section:I of the register maintained under the provision of Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Act, 1926 (Madras Act III of 1926) as a "Registered Auxiliary Nurse-Midwife". While so, the respondent issued a notification on 24.11.2025 for the recruitment for the post of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM)/Village Health Nurse and the petitioners made an application to the said post.

4. It is claimed by the petitioners that they are all having the required qualifications prescribed in the notification and also served as staff nurses during the Covid pandemic period. In these circumstances, the respondents issued a first list of document verification on 03.01.2026 for the 3,457 candidates and subsequently, the second list of document verification for around 7,640 candidates on 05.01.2026 but, unfortunately, the petitioners' name and application numbers are not included in the said two lists and the candidates who scored very less and also junior in experience to petitioners were included in the document verification list. Regarding the same, the petitioners made a representation dated 06.01.2026 before the respondents. Since no order was passed, the present writ petition is filed.

5. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners would submit that this Court may issue a direction to the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioners' representation dated 06.01.2026 and pass appropriate orders within a specified time.

6. Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the 2nd respondent will consider the representation of the petitioners dated 06.01.2026 and pass appropriate orders within a period of six weeks.

7. In view of the same, the 2nd respondent is directed to consider the petitioners' representation dated 06.01.2026 and pass appropriate orders on the same, in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
