Criminal miscellaneous petition filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C. & 528 of BNSS, seeking to extend the time for a period of three months to complete the investigation and file the final report as per the direction given by this Court in its order dated 04.08.2025 made in Crl.O.P.No.21621 of 2025 and Crl.M.P.No.14800 of 2025. ORDER

Vide order dated 04.08.2025 made in Crl.O.P.No.21621 of 2025, this Court had disposed of the said quash petition with a direction to the Investigating Officer to file a final report within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a web copy of the said order without waiting for a certified copy of the order. This petition has been filed by the StatePolice seeking extension of time to file a final report in Crime No.04/AC/2025.

2. Mr.S.Udayakumar, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), appearing for the petitioner-police submitted that the investigation has been completed and the matter was forwarded to the sanctioning authority as early as 27.02.2026 and as the sanction is still awaited, the petitionerpolice are unable to file the final report within the time stipulated by this Court. Hence, he submitted that it would suffice, if this Court grants a further period of three months for filing the final report in this matter.

3. Learned counsel appearing for the 1st respondent submitted that this Court had directed the petitioner-police to file the final report in Crime No.04/AC/2025 within a period of four months, vide order dated 04.08.2025 and even after a lapse of about seven months, till date, the 2/4

petitioner-police have not taken steps to file the final report and even the matter has been forwarded for sanction only on 27.02.2026, which is after the expiry of the time granted by this Court. Hence, this Court may issue direction to the petitioner-police to file a final report as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of one month.

In view of the above submissions made by the learned counsel appearing on either side, this criminal miscellaneous petition stands ordered and the petitioner-police is directed to file a final report in Crime No.04/AC/2025 within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. It is made clear that no further extension will be granted by this Court and the petitioner-police shall obtain necessary sanction and file the final report within the time stipulated by this Court. 13.03.2026 skt Note to office: Issue order copy on 18.03.2026. 3/4
